This Monash College Diploma (MCD) semester (T2 2025) was full of valuable industry engagement opportunities for UCBD students. The first visit was to the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant, Bangladesh’s first modern sewage treatment facility equipped with a state-of-the-art sludge drying and incineration system. It is also the largest single sewage treatment plant in South Asia.
MCD Engineering students had the opportunity to tour the plant as part of their educational and assessment activities. The visit allowed them to gain practical insights that will support their design of innovative solutions for Australia’s Lang Lang Water Treatment Project. Under the guidance of industry engineers, students also experienced hands-on training in the design and maintenance of key components of a modern water treatment plant.
