Dr Md. Azad Uddin earned his PhD and MA in Development Economic Policy Degree from Hiroshima University, Japan, under the prestigious JDS Scholarship, and his MSc and BSc (Hons) in Applied Statistics from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr Azad has more than 15 years of teaching experience at different national and international renowned institutions like Hiroshima University, North South University, Dhaka School of Economics, and others.
Dr Azad Uddin’s research interests include economic development, poverty reduction, and financial sector development, with a particular focus on informal economics. He has published many journal articles in esteemed publications and has co-edited two scientific books on health and demographic surveillance systems in Bangladesh. Additionally, he is a regular reviewer for prominent journals like SAGE Open, Review of Development Economics and World Development Perspective, etc. Dr Azad Uddin is a regular contributor to international conferences and has received several awards, including the Best Practice Award from JICA and JDS Alumni (2023), Hiroshima University Best Student Award (2015, 2020) and Hiroshima University Best Thesis Award (2015).
He is involved in various professional organizations, including the Bangladesh Statistical Association as an Organizational Secretary and ISRT Alumni Association as the General Secretary.
