Visit to Dhaka WASA Saidabad Water Treatment Plant
The industry visit to Dhaka WASA Saidabad Water Treatment Plant on Saturday 29 August 2026 was organized as an educational field experience for students and faculty participants of the Monash Pathway Program (MCD) at UCBD. The visit aimed to provide participants with practical exposure to the operations and processes involved in the treatment and supply of safe drinking water in Dhaka. During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe large-scale water treatment facilities, understand the stages of water purification, and learn about the technologies, safety practices, and operational challenges associated with municipal water treatment services. The tour complemented classroom learning by offering real-world insight into environmental engineering and water resource management practices.
Industry Visit to Queen South Textile Mills Ltd.
On 2nd May 2026, students from the University of Lancashire – Business & Marketing Department and MCD Engineering (1st & 3rd Semester) at Universal College Bangladesh (UCB) visited Queen South Textile Mills Ltd. as part of an educational industry visit. The visit offered students an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and gain first-hand exposure to a professional industrial environment. Students explored the textile manufacturing process, production operations, business practices, and engineering systems involved in the industry. For the Business & Marketing students, the visit provided valuable insights into how a large-scale textile business operates, including areas such as business management, marketing, supply chain, production planning, and industry practices. Meanwhile, the MCD Engineering students gained practical exposure to industrial machinery, manufacturing processes, engineering operations, and the technical aspects of textile production.
UCBD Students Explore Industry at Akij Food & Beverage Ltd.
On 22 November 2025, 37 enthusiastic students from business, IT, and engineering programmes—representing Monash College, University of London – London School of Economics Global Programme, and the University of Lancashire—stepped out of the classroom into the dynamic world of Akij Food & Beverage Ltd. (AFBL). Guided by four faculty members and Programme Cordinators, Dr. Zoeb Ur Rahman, Dr. Sadia Afreen, Ms. Ambreen Zaman, and Mr. Abhishek Chakravarty. Ms Nahian Jamal Joyeeta Student Services Executive, played a key role in making the event successful by providing logistic support and maintaining communication with all the parties concerned. The tour wasn’t just about seeing machines in action; it was about connecting theory with practice. Inside the factory, students explored raw material handling and automated production lines. Students witnessed the entire journey of a beverage, which included mixing and pasteurization to labeling and packaging of some popular brands like Frutika, Mojo, and Cheese Puffs. This collaborative industrial visit aimed to provide the students with four learning outcomes leading to their understanding of classroom concepts and sparking career aspirations. Real-world exposure to modern manufacturing and automation Insights into quality control and hygiene standards Understanding supply chain and inventory management Appreciation for teamwork and collaborative learning culture AFBL officials provided important technical details of their products and manufacturing process during the visit and expressed their interest in opening internships and career opportunities for UCBD students in the future. Because learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door, UCBD wants to continue such collaborative, learning-oriented extracurricular activities for the students in the months and years ahead.
Field visit to Singer Bangladesh Ltd
MCD Engineering and Business students also took part in a field visit to Singer Bangladesh Ltd., one of the country’s pioneering consumer appliance brands. During this visit, students explored supply chain operations, management strategies, and the technical aspects of the industry. The knowledge gained from this experience will be highly valuable for their future careers, whether in industrial employment or entrepreneurial ventures.
Visit to the water treatment plant of Zaber and Zubair Fabrics Ltd.
On 6 November 2024, engineering students from Universal College Bangladesh (UCB), accompanied by Dr Sadia Afreen, visited the water treatment plant of Zaber and Zubair Fabrics Ltd. (ZZFL); one of the leading textiles in Bangladesh, as part of their academic learning in the Engineering Design course. The visit was organized to provide students with practical exposure to industrial water treatment processes and to help them understand real-world engineering applications. Approximately 15 students participated in the guided plant tour, where company representatives arranged site access and a presentation for educational purposes. The visit offered valuable insights into industrial operations and environmental management practices, enhancing the students’ learning experience beyond the classroom.
Visit to Renata Pharmaceutical Ltd
The Water Treatment Process (WTP) industrial tour was organized at Renata Limited 0n 4 November Saturday as part of the practical learning activities for MCD4530 Engineering Design. The visit provided students with the opportunity to observe real-world water treatment operations, understand industrial treatment processes, and collect relevant data for their Project 1. Through direct exposure to industry practices, students were able to connect theoretical engineering concepts with practical applications and gain insights into modern water treatment technologies.
